Air strikes hit the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

BREAK,

The attack came a day after a Houthi drone strike that killed one person in Tel Aviv.

Several air strikes hit the Yemeni coastal city of Hodeidah, reported the Houthi-affiliated television station Al-Masirah. The station attributed the attack to Israel.

Saturday’s airstrikes came a day after Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for a drone attack that killed one person in Tel Aviv.

According to Al-Masirah TV, the attack targeted oil depots and a power plant in Hodeidah and sparked a fire in the area. The channel quoted health officials as saying that the airstrikes had caused casualties, including deaths, but did not provide figures.

The Iran-aligned Houthis, who pose as the country’s official armed forces, are attacking shipping lanes in the Red Sea. They say their campaign is aimed at pressuring Israel to end its war against Gaza.

The group has also fired ballistic missiles and drones at Israel, most of which have been intercepted.

But early Friday, a Houthi drone loaded with explosives evaded Israeli air defenses and struck a building in Tel Aviv, in what was seen as a serious security breach in Israel.

Israeli government officials have announced that they will respond to the attack. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed in a message to the Houthis that Israel would “take revenge” on anyone who threatened its security.

The US and Britain have been conducting airstrikes in Yemen for months in response to the Houthis’ attacks in the Red Sea. But the military campaign has failed to stop the Yemeni group’s attacks.
