Buffalo man to serve 25 years in prison for fatally stabbing man

A Buffalo man will serve a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision, for fatally stabbing a woman in her Riley Street apartment in 2022.

Otis L. Johnson, 46, was sentenced Friday morning before Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes after a jury convicted him of one count of first-degree manslaughter four months ago.

Johnson was convicted of killing Katherine Crofton, 56, after stabbing her six times during an argument the night of Dec. 19 at her apartment in the 300 block of Riley Street in Buffalo.

In March, a jury convicted Johnson after less than two hours of deliberations at the end of a five-day trial. He was convicted as a repeat offender.
