Chris Brown Named ‘Voice of the Bills’ for Buffalo Radio Broadcast Booth

The Buffalo Bills and Audacy have named Chris Brown as the new “Voice of the Bills” following the retirement of John Murphy. Brown had been replacing Murphy on an interim basis since January 2023, while Murphy began his recovery from a stroke suffered the weekend before Buffalo’s 2022 NFL season. Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brown, who now takes the reins full-time, brings a wealth of experience and skills to the role. With more than a season behind the Bills broadcast booth under his belt following the 2023 NFL season, Brown is ready to hit the ground running as he looks to continue the Bills’ legacy of play-by-play while putting his own spin on things.

Brown is a longtime Buffalo Bills reporter, covering the team since 2006. His current appointments also include co-hosting One Bills Live alongside Steve Tasker, which airs on WGR550 AM Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. ET to 3:00 p.m. ET.

You may well remember Chris Brown’s first home game report for the Bills, when Buffalo hosted the New England Patriots a week after the Bengals game in which safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field. The results of that game were eventually erased from the record books, as both teams decided the outcome was meaningless.

The entire Bills Mafia, the entire organization, the NFL and much of the world were tuned in to see how Buffalo responded to unprecedented adversity on the field. Running back Nyheim Hines decided to set the tone early on, and Brown responded in kind.

Brown’s enthusiastic approach to covering the Bills and his confident, witty persona on the microphone undoubtedly contributed to his new appointment as the team’s full-time game-day announcer. In succeeding Murphy, Brown becomes only the third full-time announcer. The role was first held by the late Van Miller from 1960 until his retirement at the end of the 2003 regular season.

Please join us in congratulating Brownie on his historic full-time appointment!
