Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott ranked by CBS Sports

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott ranked by CBS Sports

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has been ranked among the best at his position in the NFL – just barely.

The Bills have one of the longest tenured head coaches in professional football in McDermott. This has led to a lot of success and victories. Buffalo has won four straight AFC East titles and McDermott only has one losing record under his belt with the Bills.

However, CBS Sports barely sees him among the top 10 bench coaches. The outlet spotted McDermott just inside that territory in its 2024 offseason head coach rankings.

Below is a breakdown of McDermott’s results via CBS Sports, followed by the full 32-to-1 standings:

Season: 8th with the Bills, 8th as head coach
Career record: 73-41 Playoffs: 5-6

McDermott, a Reid disciple, is a strong influence on the young Andy Reid: The pressure is mounting for him to finally take an elite quarterback and annual contender to the promised land, and yet his record as a calming voice is hard to deny, with six playoff attempts in seven years at the position. Josh Allen’s ability to elevate a revamped offensive supporting cast could play a key role in his future.
