Disaster Assistance Available for Businesses Affected by Water Main Breaks in Metro Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Help is available for people whose businesses were forced to close when water mains burst in the Atlanta metro area in late May and early June.

Low-interest loans are available from the Small Business Administration (SBA), according to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS).

Businesses in Atlanta and the 11 counties affected by water main breaks from May 31 to June 6 are eligible to receive the loans. Those counties are:

  • Fulton
  • Carroll
  • Cherokee
  • Clayton
  • Cobb
  • Coweta
  • DeKalb
  • Douglas
  • Fayette
  • Forsyth
  • Gwinnett

The deadline for submitting applications is April 10, 2025.

The SBA also plans to open a “Business Recovery Center” to facilitate the application process. More information about the center will be released soon, GEMA/HS said.

You can apply for low-interest loans at https://lending.sba.gov.

Applicants may also contact the SBA’s Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at [email protected] or 1-800-659-2955 for additional assistance, GEMA/HS said.
