Multiple Families Affected by Atlanta Apartment Building Fire

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Multiple families were affected after a southwest Atlanta apartment building caught fire early Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out at the Country Oaks Apartments. Atlanta Fire Department confirmed no one was injured, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The families told Atlanta News First they were devastated after losing everything. Kristie Henderson walked out of the building with her two sons.

“I just moved here in March, I just settled in here,” Henderson said. “I picked myself up a little bit and now I’m back on my feet, so if anyone can help me out that would be great.”

According to some residents, they saw firefighters struggling to operate one of the fire hydrants.

“What I’m concerned about is why the hydrant doesn’t have water anymore. That’s unacceptable. That thing should have water,” said resident Darius Barron.

As of Monday afternoon, firefighters had not confirmed whether there were any problems with fire hydrants at the scene.
