Introducing Luke Sinnard

The Braves went back to college in the third round to select right-handed pitcher Luke Sinnard out of Indiana. Sinnard is an interesting prospect with a four-pitch mix and good control, three of which could be above average or better. Of course, there’s a catch as to how a 96 MPH arm with two swings and missed breaking balls is even available, as he’s currently injured and not expected to pitch this season. However, if he were fully healthy, he would have been in the running for a Day 1 selection.

Sinnard began his career at Western Kentucky and struggled as a freshman before joining Indiana last year, where he had 114 strikeouts in 86.1 innings, while walking just 25. He hasn’t pitched this year because of his injury, which required Tommy John surgery late last season.

First reaction

The Braves draft another injured pitcher, this time in Luke Sinnard. Sinnard could be a steal if he stays healthy and could have been a Day 1 pick. He’s an interesting prospect for a team that will likely be tight on money on Days 2 and 3.
