• Summer Symphony Evenings with the Houston Symphony at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 | FREE – Annelle K. Gregory performs with the Houston Symphony Orchestra in Alexander Glazunov’s sumptuous and bittersweet Violin Concerto. Plus, Elgar’s Enigma Variations are a touching tribute to the composer’s closest friends and family. 8:30 p.m.
• Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey: The Greatest Show on Earth at NRG Stadium | Friday, July 19 – Sunday, July 21 – The circus is coming to town as kids of all ages are invited to the highly anticipated tour of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey: The Greatest Show On Earth. • Ohana Dog Surfing Contest at Galveston Seawall | Saturday, July 20 | FREE – Watch Galveston Beach Dogs get on their boards and ride the waves in a fun, all-ages fundraiser for the Galveston Island Humane Society. 7:30 a.m. to noon.
• Summer Jam 2024 at the Moody Center for the Arts | Saturday, July 20 | FREE – Rice University’s Art Gallery transforms for the annual Summer Jam, featuring an indoor farmers market, hot food vendors, art activities, face painters, grooves by DJ Perez, complimentary drinks from Saint Arnold, gallery tours and more. Free admission; $6 parking. Noon to 5 p.m.
• Colombian International Festival at Houston City Hall | Saturday, July 20 – Celebrate Colombia’s independence at the largest party of its kind in Texas, featuring authentic art and food, a local market, kids’ games and more. Featured artists include Yeison Jimenez, the Lebron Brothers, Legacy of Timbiqui, Miguel Morales and local talent from right here in Houston. $25 and up. 1pm-10pm.
• Screwed Up Records & Tapes presents DJ Screw Day at the George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday, July 20 – This first-ever DJ Screw Birthday Celebration is presented by iconic South Houston boutique Screw, featuring a day of music featuring Houston rappers Bun B, K-Rino, Lil Flip and more, plus a custom car show, local vendors and other entertainment celebrating a Houston legend. $45. 1-6 p.m.
• MLR Playoffs: Houston SaberCats vs. Dallas Jackals at Sabercats Stadium | Saturday, July 20 – After posting the franchise’s best record in Major League Rugby, the SaberCats enter the playoffs as the team to beat. They’ll host the Jackals in a rematch of the regular-season finale, which saw Houston beat Dallas by one point. $25 and up. 6:30 p.m.
• Strand Summer Series: roman holiday Film screening at Hendley Green | Saturday July 20 | FREE – The monthly film series at Galveston’s Hendley Green returns with a screening of the 1953 romantic comedy, roman holidaywith Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. • Moon Day at the Menil Collection | Saturday, July 20 | FREE – Celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing at this free community event at The Menil in Montrose. Enjoy a night of stargazing with telescopes, NASA image projections, a soundtrack by Peter Lucas, a special appearance by Dr. Gary H.
