Ben Skowronek adds two major attributes to Houston Texans

Ben Skowronek adds two major attributes to Houston Texans

The Houston Texans expanded their wide receiver unit in May by acquiring receiver Ben Skowronek in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams.

This is the second time this offseason the Texans have traded a receiver. The first time was on April 3, when Houston brought in All-Pro Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. In that trade, Houston and Los Angeles exchanged sixth- and seventh-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Skowronek began his career as a seventh-round pick (249th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent his first two seasons playing a solid role within the Rams’ position group, recording a combined 50 receptions for 509 receiving yards in 24 games.

However, Skowronek’s production declined significantly during the 2023 season. He appeared in six games and recorded 13 receiving yards on two receptions.

“We’re excited to add more depth at receiver and more competition,” Ryans said in May. “Ben is a tough player. I’ve played against him a few times and he’s a true competitor. He plays the game the right way, so I’m excited to add his physicality and playmaking ability to our team.”

The Texans did not select a receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, Houston will enter training camp with a handful of receivers who could play a significant role in the team’s passing attack. Skowronek helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI in the 2021 season against the Philadelphia Eagles.
