KKBQ-FM installs charging stations in Houston after hurricane | Story

KKBQ-FM, better known as “93Q Country,” has launched “Power Hour Pop Ups” across Houston to help those affected by power outages following Hurricane Beryl.

According to a press release, the 93Q Country Morning Show crew, including Riggs, Katelyn and Erica, asked Houstonians without power to share their locations. In response, the 93Q crew brought in generator-powered charging stations and provided cold water, as well as a little conversation, to those in need.

The morning show hosts were joined by midday host Corey Dillon, afternoon host Lo and late night host Gerardo. They collectively helped out at several pop-up locations around the city on Wednesday.

“We wanted to do more than just report on the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl; we wanted to be there for our community in a tangible way,” said Travis Moon, Radio One’s Director of Operations and 93Q’s Program Director. “By providing charging stations, cold water and friendly conversation, we can make a big difference for our listeners.”
