Atlanta Braves News: Dylan Lee Joins Team, Draft Targets, and More

Dylan Lee’s absence from the major leagues was very short-lived, as was AJ Smith-Shawver’s return. In the meantime, the draft is coming up and the Braves could have some interesting options at their disposal. It may be a bit unlikely, but I’ve seen him at least in one spot, so I’d really like to see Wake Forest’s Seaver King join Atlanta’s system as a very good athlete with the potential to play shortstop, with significant offensive upside. The future (and present) of the shortstop position is something I’m keeping a close eye on, as Orlando Arcia is not a great option and is really struggling right now. Nacho Alvarez is one of Atlanta’s top prospects, but his defense may not be great and he has very real offensive questions, especially when it comes to how he fits into Atlanta’s hitting philosophy. I think Nacho is perhaps more likely to be trade bait than the future of the position in Atlanta. Ambioris Tavarez could perhaps be the future, and seemed to be turning a corner offensively this season before the injury struck. I’d like to see the Braves come out of the draft with a shortstop who has real potential, even if it’s not a guy like Seaver King in the first round.
