The Lawn Care Blog released its latest rankings Monday, ranking Atlanta as the 29th best city for dog parks in 2024.

The attractive city was sandwiched between No. 28 Des Moines, Iowa, and No. 30 Lexington, Ky. LawnStarter gave Atlanta an overall score of 39.56.

No other Georgia cities made the list of 101 cities, but Boise, Idaho, reigned supreme in first place.

Atlanta’s total score breakdown is as follows:

  • Overall rating: 39.56
  • Access level: 29
  • Quality Level: 26
  • Climate ranking: 54

In metro Atlanta, dog parks include Newtown Park in Johns Creek, Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, Piedmont Park in Atlanta and Lake Court Park in Smyrna.

LawnStarter compiled the rankings in honor of National Pet Loss Prevention Month, which occurs each July. Access to dog parks per 100,000 residents, the number of top-rated dog parks (4.5+ os), and weather conditions helped determine each city’s ranking on the list.

Nationally, West Coast cities dominate the top 10, while some cities in the South and East Coast don’t fare as well. For example, San Francisco, California, comes in second, while Newark, New Jersey, finishes last.
