Disney’s Epcot Introduces Western New York Beer

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — I’m a huge Disney fan. So when I heard Epcot was offering a beverage from Southern Tier Brewing Company, I wanted to know more.

Orange Twist Imperial Ale is the latest collaboration between Southern Tier Brewing Company and Perry’s Ice Cream.

“We wanted to co-brand with another very authentic Western New York brand,” said Brandon Hank, brand manager for Southern Tier Brewing Company. “It’s a combination of orange sherbet and their vanilla ice cream. We thought it would be perfect for a beer.”

Local collaboration has garnered national attention in the most magical place on Earth.

“We ended up reaching out to Disney. They felt it would be a good fit for the festival and we were lucky enough to be selected,” Hank said. “Having an offering that aligns with the excitement and joy that comes with visiting Disney theme parks makes it feel like a perfect fit.”

Walt Disney World hosts several festivals throughout the year, but the Orange Twist was selected for their International Flower and Garden Festival. It typically begins in February and runs through May with giant topiaries shaped like your favorite characters, live entertainment, and my favorite, food and drink.

So I flew to Disney’s Epcot to experience the magic of beer. And to be honest, I’m not a huge beer fan. But after trying this drink, I’d say the sip was worth the trip. It was smooth and refreshing, especially in this 90-degree heat.

But I’m not the only one. People all over the world have had the chance to taste 7-1-6.

“The fact that they’re coming to the most popular amusement park in the world and we’re in one of the most popular booths is a very emotional experience, very exciting and it definitely gives us energy for what we’re going to do in the future,” Hank said.

If you haven’t been to Disney, don’t worry. You can still find Orange Twist Imperial Ale right here.

“We offer it on tap at all of our bars,” Hank said. “It’s also available in bottles.”

Hank tells me that Southern Tier Brewing Company is working on a new drink to showcase at the upcoming Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
