Texas woman dies after boating accident, two men arrested

WILLIS, Texas (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – A Texas woman drowned and two men were arrested after police said they were driving a boat while drunk on Lake Conroe on July 4.

According to authorities, the drowning occurred after 9 p.m. Central Time.

It is said that 31-year-old Jerri MacMeekin was not wearing a life jacket when she fell from the stern of the boat. Three people jumped into the water to rescue her, but were unsuccessful.

Her brother-in-law and another man were arrested and charged with drunk driving.

According to investigators, the two men were each driving separate boats at the time of the drowning and were traveling together.
