The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Henri Jokiharju to a one-year, $3.1 million contract. The team announced the signing Friday afternoon.

Jokiharju, 25, recorded 20 points in 74 games last season, including 17 assists. He spent the last five seasons with the Sabres and has 87 points in 347 career NHL games (0.25 pts/game). Jokiharju was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with the 29th overall pick in 2017 but spent just one season with that organization.

Jokiharju was a restricted free agent at the end of a three-year contract where he earned $2.5 million in annual average, including $2.6 million in base salary last season. Jokiharju joins Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Bowen Byram, Connor Clifton, Jacob Byrson and Dennis Gilbert on the blue line in Buffalo this fall — pending other contracts that Kevyn Adams may have up his sleeve.
