‘Both our goals were excellent’ | Vrioni’s brace helps Revs return to winning ways against Atlanta United

‘Both our goals were excellent’ | Vrioni’s brace helps Revs return to winning ways against Atlanta United

“He was better served,” he added later. “It’s interesting because in the second half he missed a couple of easy goals, but in the first half he created the first goal. That’s the other thing I see a little bit more in him: he’s not just the guy who needs the ball in the right place to score, he can create a few goals, which is good to see. He has to continue, in the easy moments, to score goals. I think he’s still missing some easy goals.”

And Vrioni himself said he not only recognised the pressure on him to perform, but also enjoyed it.

“I like that idea, having weight (on my shoulders),” he said, “because it makes you more mature… I always try to work hard every day, have consistency, discipline – morning, afternoon, always.”

The Revs made a quick return to normalcy after facing Columbus last Saturday, and it will be even quicker now as the Revs prepare to take on Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field next Saturday. Vrioni knew it would be one more hurdle for the team to overcome this season, but said he’s looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be tough,” he said. “But we have to go in there with the same mentality that we’ve had in the first half today and the last four games, not counting Columbus. It’s going to be tough because they didn’t play today. But that’s no excuse because, at the end of the day, the big teams play every three days. So that’s no excuse, but, like I said, we have to recover, eat well, sleep well, practice and be ready for Saturday.”
