ShotSpotter activation leads Houston police to shooting victim in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – Police responding to a ShotSpotter activation found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in northwest Houston on Sunday.

HPD says it happened in the 3700 block of Watonga Boulevard, between Mangum Road and Lamonte Lane around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

ShotSpotter is a technology used to detect gunshots. It then sends police to the location where the gunshots were detected.

As units responded to the activation, a call came in regarding a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect is believed to still be in the area and a perimeter has been set up while police search for him.
