Adam Duvall shows signs of life after long down season

While the Atlanta Braves suffered a tough 4-2 loss Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, outfielder Adam Duvall had another solid day at the plate.

Duvall followed his big day saturday He had 1 hit in 3 at-bats, a walk and a run scored. He has now had a hit in three straight games, making 3 hits in 11 at-bats (.272) over that span, with an on-base percentage (OBP) of .333.

Perhaps it’s a sign that Duvall is beginning to emerge from his long period of stagnation.

A long, well-deserved break

Let’s be realistic. Few players needed that starting game and a big weekend more than Duvall on Saturday.

The 35-year-old outfielder has seen his numbers drop since the end of April.

As of April 30, Duvall had a slash line of .238/.327/.429/.755 with two home runs. That’s still a bit down from where he was in 2023, but it’s about where you’d expect Duvall’s production to be.

Since then, it’s been alarming. June has been Duvall’s most interesting month so far, with a slash line of .117/.181/.156/.337 with just one home run heading into the series with the Pirates.

Ultimately, having a big moment meant a lot to the struggling Braves outfielder.

“It feels good to finally stand out for the team,” Duval said after the departure.

Duvall later added how fortunate he felt to have his teammates supporting him during this difficult time.

“They know how much weight that shot took off my back,” he said. said.

It could be that he just had a good run. But it’s his best three-game run in a while, and no one can take that away from him.
