Buffalo Bills invite elite lacrosse MVP to rookie minicamp

The Buffalo Bills invited several University at Buffalo players to their rookie minicamp, but they weren’t the only players with ties to Western New York. Among the list of prospects invited to the team’s rookie minicamp was Zed Williams, an elite lacrosse player who attended Silver Creek High School.

Williams, a native of Irving, New York and a member of the Seneca Nation Wolf Clan, tried out for the linebacker position for Buffalo.

The professional lacrosse player entered the Premier Lacrosse League in 2020 via the entry draft. Williams spent the last four seasons with the Maryland Whipsnakes and won a championship in his first year with the team. He also earned All-Pro and first-team MVP honors in 2020. Williams played in 64 games and accumulated 199 points during his PLL career.

He has also played in the National Lacrosse League since 2018 and was drafted by Georgia with the fourth overall pick. Williams spent the last two seasons with the Colorado Avalanche and won a title with them in 2022. The forward played in 72 games and scored 199 points during his NLL career. He played collegiately at the University of Virginia.

During his career at Silver Creek, Williams set a national high school record with 444 field goals and 729 total points. Williams would continue to play lacrosse in Virginia. According to his Premier Lacrosse League bio, Williams received honorable mention USILA All-American and Inside Lacrosse All-American honors at Virginia. He was also All-ACC and on the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list. The Tewaaraton Trophy is essentially the Heisman Trophy of college lacrosse.

After an impressive professional career in lacrosse, Williams now appears ready to try his hand at football.
