Which Houston Texans player was picked to live up to the hype in 2024?

The Houston Texans will be one of the most exciting NFL teams to watch in 2024. They are loaded with elite or near-elite level talent. They are one of the heavy favorites for a deep playoff run and they are loaded with young guys looking to become major league players. All they have to do is win. The hardest thing to do in the NFL.

To win, especially against a much-improved schedule, the Texans need players who stand out. You have Nico Collins, who just signed a huge new contract. Tank Dell could take a step forward, coming off a year where he broke his leg. Will Anderson Jr., the 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year, could be a player who stands out. Not to mention the two biggest acquisitions of this offseason: Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter. The Texans could also rely on them more this year.

Although they will all have to outdo themselves in 2024 to live up to the hype surrounding them, only one name has been chosen to do so: CJ Stroud. Bleacher Report recently named Stroud as the Texans player most likely to improve this offseason.

“…Stroud isn’t just getting the hype from his teammates. He’s among the offseason MVP favorites, behind only Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. His status on the unofficial awards watch list isn’t unwarranted.

Nothing about his first season seemed random, and the Offensive Rookie of the Year has all the elements to be even better in year two.”

Stroud is certainly a candidate for such a jump. Veterans like Dalton Schultz notice how much in charge he is when he’s in the group. He is no longer looking for his voice, as he has now found it. He demands attention from his teammates and has the respect of his peers. Now all he has to do is strike fear into his opponents and you’ll see a future Most Valuable Player come to fruition.
