Sacred white buffalo calf disappears from Yellowstone

A rare white buffalo calf, considered sacred by Native American tribes and believed to bring good luck, has gone missing in Yellowstone.

The calf’s birth on June 4 was considered a “natural phenomenon” meant to fulfill a prophecy of better times, and about 500 people attended a celebration hosted by the Lakota Native American tribe.

But Yellowstone National Park officials issued a warning Friday, revealing that the white bison had not been seen since it was born.
