John Murphy, longtime play-by-play voice of the Buffalo Bills, resigns

On January 1, 2023, John Murphy, longtime radio voice of the Buffalo Bills, suffered a stroke that sidelined him for the remainder of the season and forced him to miss the entire 2023 season of the NFL.

Unfortunately, Murphy’s voice has not returned to where he feels he can broadcast Bills games on the radio, and today’s edition of the Buffalo Rumblinks begins by recalling Murphy’s tenure on the mic as one of the best voices in Buffalo sports broadcasting history.

John Murphy, who has been the voice of the Bills for the past 19 seasons and worked on Buffalo radio broadcasts for 35 years, is retiring as the radio voice of the Bills as he continues to recover from the effects of a stroke he suffered in 2023.
