  • Allan Winans, SP: 6IP 4H 0ER 2BB 9K, 2.88 ERA

It was the Allan Winans show tonight, as he shut down the Redbirds’ offense with another great start. Over his last four starts, Winans has compiled a 0.36 ERA, .680 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9 rate — simply getting by since dealing with blister issues that had previously bothered him. While Allan did his thing, the Stripers did theirs — scoring their five runs in the second and third innings. Eli White led off the game with a home run in the top of the second inning.

Nacho Alvarez Jr. would add two more later in the inning with a two-run double.

They would add another pair of runs in the third when Luke Waddell retired with the bases loaded to score Chadwick Tromp. Quickly followed by Eli White scoring on a wild pitch.

With the score 5-0, AJ Minter made his second rehab appearance before the game in the seventh inning. It wasn’t Minter’s best outing as he started the inning with a walk, then threw a wild pitch and allowed the runner to advance to second. That runner would later score on a groundout to third, making the score 5-1. Matt Carasiti and Tommy Doyle would go 0 in the final two innings to secure the victory for the Stripers.

(40-30) Montgomery Biscuits 1, (32-37) Mississippi Braves 4

The score of the box

  • David Fletcher, 2B: 2 for 2, 2 BB, 2 R, .211/.244/.237

  • Drue Hackenberg, SP: 6IP 2H 0ER 3BB 8K, 0.00 ERA

Drue Hackenberg was successful in his Double-A debut. Working 94-96 with his fastball with a solid slider, Drue shut down the Biscuits with eight strikeouts in six innings. The Mississippi Braves offense backed up this pitching performance with some timely hits of their own. Mississippi took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Justin Dean sacrifice fly scoring David Fletcher. They would then add three more in the bottom of the third, with the big blow coming on a two-run homer from Cody Milligan.

Montgomery scored his own run in the eighth, then later charged the inning with two outs before the Braves turned to Anthony Vizcaya.

Vizcaya allowed a single in the ninth before closing out the game and earning his second save of the season.

(39-29) Emperors of Rome 10, (32-37) Winston-Salem Dash 4

The score of the box

They scored their second run in the third inning when Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. tripled with one out before scoring on a ground out by Sabin Ceballos (2-0). The Dash scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1, but the Emperors responded with a six-run fourth inning highlighted by Sabin Ceballos hitting a grand slam.

The Emperors would add another run in the 8th when, who else but Sabin Ceballos, scored his sixth RBI of the game with a ground out to third. Their final run would come in the 9th inning when Nick Ward singled in EJ Exposito who had singled and stolen a base earlier in the inning.
