BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The night sky will soon be brightened with fireworks around Western New York to celebrate Independence Day.

Here is a list of shows in the area, most starting at dusk unless otherwise noted.


Saturday June 29

  • Cherry Creek – Fireworks start at 10 p.m. at Cherry Creek Ball Field

Monday July 1

  • Akron – Fireworks at Veteran’s Park
  • Buffalo – Independence Eve celebration at Sahlen Field, with fireworks and a concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra after the Buffalo Bisons vs. Rochester Red Wings game.
  • Buffalo – Fireworks at Buffalo River Fest Park
  • Cheektowaga – Fireworks at Cheektowaga City Park
  • Aurora East – Fireworks at Hamlin Park, rain date July 4
  • Niagara Falls State Park – Fireworks at 10 p.m., viewing areas include Prospect Point, Terrapin Point and Luna Island
  • Olcott – Fireworks over Lake Ontario start at 10 p.m.
  • Silver Stream – Fireworks at Borrello Park
  • Town of Tonawanda – Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. at Kenney Park

Thursday July 4

  • Bemus Point – Fireworks launched from a barge in Bemus Bay from 10 p.m. Visible from Village Park, Lakeside Drive and around Bemus Point.
  • Boston – Fireworks at the Boston Lions Shelter behind City Hall.
  • Darien Lake – Fireworks at Six Flags Darien Lake
  • Dunkirk – Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. at Dunkerque Memorial Park
  • Elma – Fireworks at Iroquois High School
  • Findley Lake – Fireworks on the lake from 10 p.m.
  • Lake wood – Fireworks start at 10 p.m.
  • Village of Lancaster – Parade at noon followed by fireworks at dusk
  • Lewiston – Best viewed from Academy Park
  • Lock port – Fireworks start at 10pm at Outwater Park, rain date July 5th
  • Mayville – Fireworks start at 10 p.m. at Lakeside Park
  • Niagara Falls State Park – Fireworks at 10 p.m., viewing areas include Prospect Point, Terrapin Point and Luna Island
  • Orchard Park – Fireworks at Orchard Park Middle School
  • Pendleton – Fireworks at Town Park
  • Warsaw – Fireworks at 10 p.m. Village Park
  • Wheat field – Fireworks at Oppenheim Park

Other Independence Day Events

Akron: Veteran’s Park will host food, vendors and fireworks at 5 p.m. on July 3. Activities such as a soap box competition, face painting and smoke dancers will be featured at Russell Park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 4.

Summer Concert at Bassett Park: Live music will be performed at Bassett Park in Amherst for Independence Day. The Erie County Wind Ensemble is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. July 4 to kick off its summer concert series. Entrance is free, you just need to bring a chair or blanket to sit on. The event will be moved to the Clearfield Community Center in the event of rain. You can call 716-631-7132 for more information.

Bison-buffalo: The Buffalo Bisons are hosting their 28th annual Independence Eve celebration which will begin just after 6 p.m. on July 3. The Bisons will host the Rochester Red Wings, followed by a concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Finally, a self-proclaimed “biggest fireworks show of the season” begins. Tickets start at $30.10 and can be purchased here.

Genesee Village and Country Museum: The Independence Celebration at GCV&M in Mumford will begin July 4 at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. A 19th century-style parade, pie eating contest and recitation of the Declaration of Independence will take place. Patriotic tunes will play while attendees enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs. Tickets can be purchased here starting at $20 and children 12 and under can attend for free.

The Great Pumpkin Farm: The Fourth of July Carnival at the Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence spans three days, July 4-6. Local musicians will perform every evening while fireworks will take place at dusk on July 6. Carnival dishes including fried dough, cotton candy and candy. apples will be available. Craft beer, wine and specialty drinks will also be on sale. Entry is free and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Coupons are available on their Facebook page.

Kenney Park – Tonawanda: The City of Tonawanda is hosting a free community event July 3 at Kenney Park. Food trucks including Lloyds and Just Pizza, among others, will be on site from 6:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. while fireworks will fly overhead from 9:30 p.m. The American Legion Band plays at 7:00 p.m. and its performance is scheduled to end at 9:00 p.m. More information can be found on their Facebook page. There will be no rain date for this event.

Old Falls Street Festival: The street festival in Niagara Falls will begin at noon on July 4th and continue until the evening of July 7th. Opening hours are 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Buffalo Aerial Dance will be performed with the characters of Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam. The festival will be filled with live music, food and vendors. Free entry.

Southern Tier Brewing Company: Southern Tier Brewing Company is hosting a pre-fireworks party with food, beers and music. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. on July 4 with fireworks following in the evening.
