‘They gave Kirk Cousins $180 million’: Social media reacts to Atlanta drafting Michael Penix Jr.

The first round of the NFL Draft began with three quarterbacks in the top three picks, with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye coming off the board. The offensive run continued over the next few picks ahead of the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8 overall.

The Falcons managed to get four quarterbacks in the first eight picks by selecting Michael Penix Jr. from Washington.

This came as a surprise to many after the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to start free agency and analysts and fans took to social media to react.

Wow! Wow. Kirk Cousins has $100 million guaranteed over the next two seasons. Even if you get rid of him after 2025, Michael Penix will be 26 when he takes over in 2026.

I guess the Falcons thought Penix didn’t exceed the Vikings/Raiders/Broncos draft range. Wow!
