Injured hiker rescued in South Buffalo Township

An injured hiker near Lock and Dam 6 on the Allegheny River in South Buffalo Township was rescued by firefighters Saturday afternoon.

Two hikers were hiking a trail in the Clinton area of ​​South Buffalo, near the lock, when a hiker fell and was injured, according to the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

Both hikers’ cell phones were overheated and unusable, so a hiker called a boat for help around 1 p.m. and emergency responders were alerted, the South Buffalo Fire Department said.

The injured hiker was quickly located by firefighters, who guided Freeport Fire-EMS medics to the hiker. The doctors then began treatment.

Firefighters removed the injured hiker from the area with a Stokes basket.

The injuries are not life-threatening, the South Buffalo Fire Department said.
