University of Houston ready to enter new chapter in Cougars Athletics history

The University of Houston is beginning a new chapter in the direction of its athletics program. Chris Pezman will no longer be athletic director. The University is launching a national search for a new vice president for intercollegiate athletics.

“Chris Pezman has led our athletic program through an incredible period of transformation, and we are grateful for his leadership over the past six years,” said UH President Renu Khator. “He played a pivotal role in our entry into the Big 12 Conference and championed student-athlete success on the field and in the classroom. This was a difficult but necessary decision as we experience a paradigm shift in college athletics. I want to thank Chris for his dedication to UH and to our student-athletes. On behalf of the University, I wish Chris and his family the best.

The search for a new athletic director will begin immediately and will be given the highest priority. During the transition, Raymond S. Bartlett, senior vice president of administration and finance, will serve as interim athletic director.
