Houston traffic delays: Northbound lanes of I-69 Southwest reopen at Bissonnet Street 5 hours after lost cargo crash

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Traffic was slow on I-69 Southwest Tuesday morning, causing significant delays for drivers during their morning commute.

All main northbound lanes of Bissonnet Street were closed for more than five hours due to an accident involving a box truck and a lost load.

Houston Transtar first reported the crash at 2:32 a.m. All northbound lanes reopened at 7:59 a.m.

A box truck accident left pallets strewn across the highway. Crews were seen cleaning up some sort of hazardous material spill on the main tracks.

In the SkyEye video seen from above the scene, the highway looked like a parking lot. At one point, ABC13’s traffic tracking technology detected that the travel time from Sugar Land to downtown exceeded an hour.
