Atlanta has been selected as one of 14 host cities for the 2024 Copa América. The world-class Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host two group stage matches. International legend Lionel Messi arrives in Atlanta as 2022 FIFA World Cup champions Argentina defend their Copa América title against Canada in the tournament’s opening match on June 20. Seven days later, Christian Pulisic and the United States men’s national team faced Panama for the first time. -never played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.

The action won’t be limited to the 90 minutes between the lines on the pitch. Numerous activities and events will be offered to supporters across the city, before and after the big matches.

Wild Heaven Brewery and Monday Night Garage

On June 19, Argentina fans are invited to Wild Heaven Brewery and Monday Night Garage in the Lee + White development in Westend for an “Argentina-style” pep rally. An organization known as thefloodproject is working with the Consulate General of Argentina to organize a celebration of Argentine football and culture ahead of the big game on June 20. Participation is free with an RSVP, and there will be a draw for a signed Lionel Messi jersey. .

Wild Leap, drinks, downtown, brewery

Wild Leap will host a pre-game party starting at 4 p.m. Wild Leap is just steps from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and offers two floors of party space. Expect a live DJ, food trucks, themed beer, cocktails, adult slushies and a raffle for Argentinian gear and other exciting prizes. Tickets for this event are $10 for early general admission, $20 for same-day admission and $30 and up for VIP admission. This is an event for all ages and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

Football in the streets

Soccer in the Streets is hosting a watch party near the Station Soccer fields at the Westend MARTA station starting at 7 p.m., one hour before kickoff. The “old-fashioned block party” will feature giant screens, music, food and other refreshments. Participation in this match is also free and takes place until 10 p.m. This seems like a great alternative for fans who may not be able to make it to the stadium for the game.

After the party

If the pre-game activities and the game itself aren’t enough for you, there’s even an after-party in the cards. Candela from Atlanta and Cachete from Argentina came together to throw an after party at the District. Argentinian Latin trap rapper ECKO will continue the celebration late into the night. This event is for ages 21 and up and tickets range from $20 to $50 with doors opening at 10 p.m.

American outlaws

While most Copa América events around June 20 are heavily focused on Argentina, things will change on the United States side once the match is played on June 27. National supporters group American Outlaws (AO) will be in town and in full force showing their support for the national team.

AO’s footprint won’t be limited to the tailgate. The American Outlaws will also host a party before June 26 at Fado Irish Pub in Midtown. Truly Hard Seltzer will team up with SweetWater Brewing Co. to sponsor this event, which includes specials on Truly’s and SweetWater drinks. The party will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and should be a great way to meet other soccer fans and get ready for the main event on June 27.

In partnership with Atlanta United supporters groups, AO will host a tailgate event at Supporters Tailgate Lot 17 from noon on game day until kickoff at 6 p.m. There will be unlimited hot dogs for $5, free. Truly Hard Seltzer for attendees 21 and older, a live DJ, giveaways and even local vendors selling merchandise. It’s fun to attend Atlanta United’s closing events, and things shouldn’t be any different when everyone comes together to cheer on American soccer.

Even if you can’t attend the games or one of the events, you can’t go wrong with visiting one of Atlanta United’s many partner pubs on game day. Whether you go to a place like Brewhouse Cafe or Park Tavern, one of Metro Atlanta’s official partner pubs should be worth a visit on June 20 or 27. Either way, there are plenty of options for enjoying the action. with other football fans.
