Buffalo Bills Dalton Kincaid missing from Pro Football Network’s under-25 top 25

During Week 2 of the 2023 season, I made the trip for the weekend to watch the Bills’ prospects opener. We walked into the Bills store at Highmark Stadium, and there it was. Number 86, a Dalton Kincaid jersey, hung beautifully on the wall. I looked at my wife and said, “He’s going to be a star.” I walked out of that store with the jersey and wore it every game day from then on. Even during the offseason, I wore the jersey several times during the podcast.

I meant what I said too, Kincaid will be a star in the NFL, but according to profootballnetwork.com, Kincaid wasn’t good enough to be a top 25 player under 25. I might not have a problem with their rankings without a few names on the list that Kincaid should be ranked on, or at least right there with them. For example, Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was listed on the list at number 16. Make no mistake, LaPorta belongs on the list, but what he accomplished as a rookie last season he did so while playing 981 snaps, over 83% of the team’s total, and receiving 120 targets. During that time, Kincaid played 699 snaps, or just over 60 percent, and received just 91 targets.

Just for fun, let’s project some numbers. If Kincaid had played an equal number of snaps, he would have finished with 127 targets and 101 receptions, for over 900 yards. All three of these stats are better than LaPorta’s. LaPorta’s ten touchdowns were impressive, but the point of this comparison is to show that Kincaid belongs in the top 25 under 25. He’s up there with LaPorta, but other names on the rankings were Miami Dolphins rookie De’Von Achane, who was impressive last season but only played 300 snaps, missing time with multiple injuries. Other questionable names include Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
