Pride Houston Celebrates Pride Month with Juneteenth, a Leadership Summit and ‘Bunnies on the Bayou’

HOUSTON (KIAH) — June is the month we celebrate an underappreciated community. For years, this community has been fighting for the right to love whoever they want. And for 46 years, Pride Houston has been serving the LGBTQ Plus community. Now, Pride Houston is once again hosting plenty of events to celebrate and much more.

June is also the month of commemorating the end of slavery. Pride Houston is hosting a Juneteenth summit on Wednesday to bring together prominent Black leaders in the community to discuss the holiday and the impact on Black nonprofit leaders.

First, CW39 Houston anchor Sharron Melton speaks with Kendra Walker, president of Pride Houston and Atlantis Narcisse with “Save Our Sisters United,” to talk about the importance of this summit (above).

Then, hear from Jauques Bourgeois, President of Bunnies on the Bayou, about the importance of Pride Month and the celebrations that will take place there that will uplift individuals, families and the community, together.
