Atlanta’s Talat Market Comes to Charleston with Fresh Thai Flavors

James Beard Award-nominated chefs Rod Lassiter and Parnass Savang will travel to Charleston on Thursday, June 20 to cook dishes from their Atlanta-based Thai restaurant Talat Market. They are the first guests in a series of Southern culinary experiences from The Southern Fork podcaster Stephanie Burt.

Burt’s podcast explores the foodways of the American South by interviewing chefs, creators, master chefs, farmers and more. Her transition to events is a way for her to interact with her audience and showcase the work of her podcast guests.

“For the inaugural Southern Fork experience, I felt a celebration was called for,” Burt said. “And the longest day of the year is party time, full of the best produce the Lowcountry has to offer. Combining that with the joyful cuisine of Talat Market for an overnight residency in Charleston will be a fun (and delicious) way to kick off this new phase of The Southern Fork.

Other contributors to the evening include former Magnolia pastry chef Andrea Upchurch, Mark Overbay of Big Spoon Roasters, Charleston mixologist Megan Deschaine and hospitality consultant Kellie Holmes.

Tickets for the event are limited to 40 guests. The event will take place on Thursday June 20 at 7 p.m. at Counter Culture Coffee (85 12 Spring Street).
