Houston-area traffic stop leads to arrest of two wanted felons with meth and gun | State

Houston, TX – A traffic stop on June 11, 2024 led to the arrest of two wanted felons in possession of methamphetamine and a firearm.

A sergeant from Constable Mark Herman’s office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 8300 block of Mills Road. As the vehicle stopped, the driver, identified as Mark Garcia, threw a white bag out the window. The passenger, who initially gave a fictitious name, was later identified as Roberto Alvarez, who was found in possession of a weapon.

A trooper K9 unit arrived on scene and located the bag which contained 11.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine. A search revealed that Garcia had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a dangerous drug, while Alvarez had an outstanding felony warrant for aggravated domestic assault and unlawful possession of a weapon by a criminal.

“They were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants,” Officer Mark Herman said. “Mark Garcia was charged with possession of a controlled substance and given a $10,000 bond. Roberto Alvarez was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. His total bond was set at $100,000 by the 184th District Court.”
