In today’s edition, the Braves lost Michael Harris, the Royals could lose Salvador Perez, the Orioles are afraid of what will happen to Kyle Bradish and the Pirates don’t know what they’re going to do. have to Oneil Cruz. All this and more in today’s edition of the Fantrax Injury Report.

MLB Injury Report for Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Michael Harris – OF Atlanta Braves (hamstring)

Harris was running the bases when he began limping. He will be examined today with an MRI, but the fact that he is already on the injured list can’t be a good thing. He will almost certainly miss more than 10 days here, and the team will be missing another star on its roster. This is not a good situation for Atlanta which needs its offense to wake up. We should know more about the length of his absence once the MRI results are released.

Oneil Cruz – SS Pittsburgh Pirates (ankle)

News of the move came well after the lineups were released, and some were concerned that this was a situation to watch for in the long term. The good news is that during the game, there were numerous clips of Cruz being silly and charismatic with his teammates and reporters. Although nothing is set in stone, he moved around the dugout and was very playful, which could lead one to believe that this is a DTD situation and nothing more. There wasn’t much news on his ankle outside of the report, mind you.

Henry Davis – C/OF Pittsburgh Pirates (concussion-like symptoms)

There has been some confusion surrounding this withdrawal as it is unclear what caused Davis to feel this way. The team should have some details regarding their situation today before the rosters are released.

Salvador Perez – C/1B Kansas City Royals (knee discomfort)

Perez was injured making a catch where he had to extend upfield. From there, his pain continued to grow to the point where it became unmanageable. The biggest problem for him was that he was unable to crouch like a receiver should, so the team made the choice to remove him from the game. We should know more today after the team is re-evaluated. There’s a good chance he’ll miss some time here, although it’s unclear if he’ll need a trip to the injured list.

Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles (elbow)

Bradish was seen shaking his elbow throughout the match, on a night where his speed increased significantly. He would later reveal that his elbow was hurting and the team announced that he would undergo tests later in the day. There was a sinisterly scary tone around the team here, as everyone seemed worried that this was a significant injury. The hope is that everything is structurally sound and he can continue throwing, perhaps after a short break. That said, he missed time to start the season after receiving an injection in his UCL for a sprain. Stay tuned.

Kyle Tucker – Houston Astros (shin)

It was hoped Tucker would be ready at some point this weekend, but he has yet to return to baseball activities. With Saturday out of the picture, it seems like a lot would have to happen today for it to be activated tomorrow. Perhaps this injury is more serious than initially thought.

Elias Diaz – C Colorado Rockies (calf)

Diaz missed the entire week due to the injury he suffered on Monday. The hope was that it would improve now, but alas, here we are. Hunter Goodman will serve as receiver for today and will see reps at that position in the meantime.

Gerrit Cole – SP New York Yankees (elbow)

Cole looked absolutely dominant in this outing and seems more than ready to return to the Yankees. There’s no official word yet, but there’s a good chance it will happen soon.

Toronto Blue Jays – Team Update

Given the context of Yariel Rodriguez’s upcoming (returning) start, it seems clear that he will be brought back as a starter upon his re-entry from the injured list. He has looked good in most of his outings so far. As for Jordan Romano (elbow), he continues to slowly recover from this injury which caused him to miss time twice this season. He only has 13.2 innings pitched between injections, which is concerning for any long-term durability.

Arizona Diamondbacks – Team Update

Big update here with some big names to boot. Alek Thomas (hamstring) continues to progress and will now head to the Arizona Complex League to hit. He will next have to play in the outfield, but the team wants to test the waters at the plate first. As for Zac Gallen (hamstring), he continues to make slow progress, but a simulated game could be a big step. Once that hurdle is cleared, he could jump straight into a rehab assignment, which likely appears to be on the table. Eduardo Rodriguez continues to pitch and this MRI should help determine if and when the next steps in his recovery can take place. Finally, Miguel Castro (shoulder) appears to be heading in the right direction toward a rehab assignment in the near future.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update

Excellent news regarding Bobby Miller (shoulder) since his return this Wednesday should propel him up the rankings and in the FAAB awards. The team has already announced that upon his return, they will implement a six-player rotation for the time being. It remains to be seen how long this will last. As for Clayton Kershaw (shoulder), his long rehabilitation mission will also begin this Wednesday. His velocity is where it was in previous seasons and he likely won’t be sent back to the Dodgers by any means.
