Connecticut mother seeks answers in disappearance of Atlanta teen

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The search continues for Asata Amun, 16, of Atlanta, who went missing on February 1 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Her mother, Jasmine Dominique, 41, now resides in Connecticut and spoke to News 8 about her “free-spirited, tomboyish” daughter who loves being in nature.

“As a mother, it’s hard for me because I can’t really sleep,” Dominique said. “I can’t stop thinking about it and I can’t do anything because I’m here.”

Amon was living with his father and Dominique’s ex-husband at the time of his disappearance. Dominique divorced Asata’s father in 2019 and describes the man as violent.

“I don’t want to think he did anything to her. I really don’t,” Dominique said. “I just want her to be safe. That’s all I want.

Atlanta police say it’s extremely unusual that no one has heard from Amon in three months. A search warrant was issued for his father’s house.
