Bills CB Kaiir Elam impresses at minicamp

ORCHARD PARK, New York. (WKBW) — Third-year cornerback Kaiir Elam had one of the best performances we’ve seen during the Buffalo Bills’ mandatory minicamp this week.

The way Elam has turned heads as the team prepares for some rest time before training camp has a lot to do with his confidence boost.

“I firmly believe that what you put out is what you post. It might not happen when you want it to or when you think it should,” Elam told reporters Thursday. “But it’s still going to work and it’s still going to show, so I felt like it “It was great for me to make plays.”

And we’re not the only ones who noticed Elam’s high play on the court. Teammate Taron Johnson has seen first-hand his attention to the playbook and results in offseason training.

“Growth is everywhere. He understands the games better, I can see his technique improving in a lot of different areas, so it’s just special to see,” Johnson said. “We have great coaches that have helped us all get better enormously.”

Elam would be the first to tell you that there is still much to do. But the progress we’ve seen so far is a product of his desire to become a playmaker his team can rely on when it matters most.

“I just want to be a guy that my teammates can count on, to be on the court and do my job. I really believe that I can win the ball at a high level, so I continue to work on what I ‘brings there.’ Elam added.

The Bills will take a few weeks off before reporting to St. John Fisher University on July 23 for training camp. The first day of camp is July 24.
