Bus hijacking in Atlanta

Video shows wild police chase…

A passenger killed

A crook hijacked an Atlanta city bus, holding the driver at gunpoint and taking passengers hostage before leading cops on a high-speed chase across the city… which ended ended in death.

Aerial footage shows law enforcement chasing the bus through Atlanta on Tuesday…the bus speeds through city streets, weaving through traffic and crushing civilian cars and police cruisers during a chase that took place over miles and miles of road.

When police finally stopped the bus, passengers ran to safety…and the suspect was taken away in handcuffs. SWAT officers cleared the bus and found a passenger with a gunshot wound. They were rushed to hospital in critical condition and eventually died.

It all started during rush hour in downtown Atlanta, when police received a 911 call about a hostage situation and possible gunfire aboard a bus. Police say they responded to the scene and the bus took off, leading to a chase – which was documented by helicopters.

Mayor of Atlanta Andrew Dickens says the suspect held the bus driver at gunpoint during the hijacking…and cops say some of the 17 people on board made 911 calls during the chase, talking to police while the pursuit was taking place.

As you can see in the video, police tried different tactics to stop the bus… including spike strips, which appeared to help flatten the tires and slow the bus.

Police say it’s unclear when the fatal shooting took place — an investigation is ongoing — and the suspect is believed to be a convicted felon. No word on the motive for his alleged actions.
