Internet provider plans expansion in North Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Internet provider Greenlight Networks is expanding to North Buffalo as another service option.

The company says construction work has started and more than 2,600 homes are expected to have access to the service for the first time by September.

A glance at a map on Greenlight’s website shows construction underway between the north side of Hertel Avenue and Tacoma Avenue, between Tennyson Avenue and Norwalk Avenue, in addition to some areas north of these.

A number of streets north and south of this specific area are being evaluated for potential service.

“Grid and infrastructure development in this community is a critical part of our overall expansion plans for this year,” said Mark Murphy, CEO of Greenlight.

Their Internet service is already available on the east and west sides of Buffalo, as well as in Cheektowaga, North Tonawanda, and Lancaster Village. Greenlight’s hope is to connect more than 30,000 Erie County homes to its network by the end of 2024.

Buffalo Common Council member Joseph Golombek Jr. says Greenlight “has proven to be a fantastic partner in other parts of the city.”

“This expansion will not only improve the connectivity of our community, but also support the economic growth and development of the North Buffalo District,” he said.
