1. Hamburg Brewing creates beer for the village’s anniversary

The Village of Hamburg is celebrating its 150th anniversary and Hamburg Brewing has created a special beer to commemorate this 1874 feat, modeled after the original recipe for White Corner Wheat, the first beer ever brewed at Hamburg Brewing. The 1874 American Wheat Ale is a 5.3% wheat beer, named after White’s Corners, now known as Main and Buffalo Streets, brewed with Pilsner and Wheat malts and Herkules, Perle and Citra hops. The beer is available on draft and in 12oz. Pack of 6 cans at the brewery.

2. The New York Beer Project OP Beer Lodge will open on June 14

The NYBP Beer Lodge, the New York Beer Project’s new location at Orchard Park in the Sterling Business Park, will officially open its doors to the public on June 14 (11 a.m.). An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Friday between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. and will feature Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly, Bills Mafia founder Del Reid and Bills superfan John Lang, aka Bills Elvis, as well as other Orchard Park officials. They will open with 17 beers, including Hazy Crush IPA and OP Lager, which will be exclusive to the NYBP OP Beer Lodge, and a seltzer on tap.

3. Wayland Brewery 1^st Birthday weekend

Orchard Park’s Wayland Brewing is taking the entire weekend to celebrate its first anniversary. There will be a barbecue throughout the weekend, barbecue specialties, live music and new beers. Wayland will release a pair of new beers for their anniversary, including Fuller Send, a larger version of Full Send, their all-Citra 7% IPA, brewed with more Citra, Citra Cryo and Yakima Chief’s experimental 701 extract, and Hive, a slightly tangy saison beer with honey from Country Honey of Ellicottville. Both beers will be available on draft and in cans from Friday June 14. The weekend festivities are free and open to the public, with the exception of Friday’s Songbird concert, which has a fee.

4. Buffalo Brewing Company PakTech Recycling Program

If you’re looking for a sustainable way to get rid of all that PakTech piling up in your home, you can take it to Buffalo Brewing Company for recycling. The brewery has a designated bin in its tap room for PakTech, which it collects, sorts, cleans and then reuses or returns for proper recycling. A PakTech is a plastic beer can holder available in 4- and 6-packs. And they can’t be recycled conventionally, so Buffalo Brewing has stepped in to help. According to the manufacturer, the return of PakTechs has helped prevent approximately 80 million pounds of plastic from ending up in landfills and oceans since 2012.

5. BTR Brews closes its doors in an Angolan village

After initially planning to close on July 31, BTR Breweries in Angola Village has closed its doors for good. “My sincerest gratitude to everyone who has supported myself and my family over the last two and a half years,” owner Brandi Lombardo said via social media. “Unfortunately, BTR can no longer hold and we have closed our doors for the last time. We were hoping to find interested buyers to take over, but this did not materialize. The company will remain for sale until mid-July and shortly thereafter, if we do not have a buyer, we will liquidate our assets. BTR Brews held its grand opening on December 3, 2021.

6. There are tickets left for the Rhythm and Brews benefit at Kleinhans

There are still a limited number of tickets remaining for Rhythm & Brews at Kleinhans Music Hall on Thursday, June 13. The event will feature craft beer and cider from 42 North, Ellicottville Brewing, Southern Tier, Big Ditch, Hamburg Brewing, 12 Gates, Steelbound Brewery. , Community Beer Works, Flying Bison, Resurgence Brewing and BlackBird Cider Works, food from Oliver’s, Britesmith, Creekview Restaurant and Marcato by Oliver’s and music from Jukeboxx. Proceeds will benefit Kleinhans programming. Tickets for the AGM are $45, but there are a limited number of VIP tickets ($85) remaining, which include early entry (5 p.m.), first tastes and reserved seating. 7. Former head office of Maison Labatt available for sale

The former Labatt House headquarters offices, brewery and tasting room, located at 79 Perry Street, are now available for purchase. Labatt Brew House is closing and will not reopen elsewhere after the brand announced plans to seek a smaller headquarters in the Buffalo area. The brewery and tasting room occupy 3,500 square feet and the office space spans more than 11,000 square feet, including 11 private offices, collaboration spaces, a covered outdoor patio and an indoor bar and kitchen. Labatt first moved into the Perry Street space in 2018. Hunt Commercial Real Estate manages the subleasing of Labatt’s Perry Street location.
