Buffalo man charged in alleged sexual assault in Shoshone Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault in Shoshone Park in March, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Lamont Love, 34, was arraigned on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree assault.

Authorities said that around 10:30 p.m. on March 3, Love was riding his bicycle and approached the victim as she was walking in Shoshone Park, in the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue. He allegedly jumped off his bike and attacked the victim.

Love is accused of subjecting the victim to sexual contact by coercion, the prosecutor’s office said.

The victim escaped the attack and reported the incident to the police.

A temporary protection order was issued on behalf of the victim and remains in effect.

Love is expected to return for a pretrial conference on July 2. Prosecutors requested he be held without bail. The court set bail at $25,000 cash, insurance company bond or partially secured bond, officials said.
