HOUSTON – We had a few thunderstorms across the region today and this trend is expected to continue through Tuesday.

On top of that, we may also have to deal with a few stronger storms that may attempt to make their way toward the Houston area from the west.

Tuesday thunderstorms

The Houston area is at the edge of a severe weather risk Tuesday. The greatest risk of seeing a stronger storm will be west of the immediate Houston area, but it is possible that a few stronger storms may attempt to make their way toward Harris County and the immediate Houston area.

Although the models haven’t been very good at predicting the timing and location of storms during recent weather events, they indicate that we could be dealing with storms on Tuesday at a similar time to Monday, around dinner time or shortly after. After.

Although the severe threat is low, be aware that if stronger storms develop, they could bring damaging winds and possibly hail as well.

Potential tropical harm?

It’s been over a week, but there are indications that there could be potential development in the tropics starting next week.

A plume of moisture begins to move northward from the Caribbean toward parts of the Gulf of Mexico. While the exact location of this moisture plume will need to be monitored over the next few days, at least someone could get a lot of rain next week. Florida, in particular, looks to be getting a lot of precipitation, potentially over a foot of rain thanks to this moisture plume.

Although it is unclear at this time, it is also possible that a tropical system could develop from this moisture plume. This is a topic we will be monitoring closely in the coming days.
