Houstonians can admire beautiful flowers, artistic sculptures and learn about different plants at the Houston Botanical Garden this summer.

Here’s what you need to know about the 132 acres of gardens.

What is the Houston Botanical Garden?

The Houston Botanical Garden has a wide variety of plants and ecosystems in world-class gardens, according to its website. The botanical garden is located at 8210 Park Place Blvd. in Houston.

“It’s easy to discover and connect with the beauty and splendor of nature in the garden’s 132 acres surrounded by Sims Bayou in what was once a public golf course,” describes the Visit Houston website.

The Botanical Garden has several gardens, including the Abendshein Family Fountain, Botanic Lane, Coastal Prairie, Community Garden, Culinary Garden, Global Collection Garden, Park Place Entry, Picnic Grove, Pine Grove, Stormwater Wetlands, Susan Garver Family Discovery Garden, and Woodland Glade . .

When does the Houston Botanical Garden open?

The Houston Botanical Garden is open Sunday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, opening hours are extended until 8 p.m. every summer Saturday between June and August.

How to Get Houston Botanical Garden Tickets

The Houston Botanical Garden offers tickets for people planning to visit, but prices vary depending on the day.

Monday to Thursday tickets:

  • Adults over 16: $12.50
  • Children aged 3 to 15: $8
  • Students: $8

Tickets for Friday-Sunday:

  • Students: $10

Infants and toddlers under 3 years old can enter the Houston Botanical Garden for free.

How to become a member of the Houston Botanical Garden

The Houston Botanical Garden offers several membership options.

  • Double membership: $75
  • Family subscription: $100
  • Family and friends membership: $125
  • Supporter membership: $250
  • Patron membership: $500

The Garden also has a limited number of scholarship memberships to provide access to people who might not otherwise be able to visit, according to its website.

What are the rules of the Houston Botanic Garden?

The Houston Botanical Garden has rules such as respecting the garden and other participants, staying and keeping others safe, and not bringing pets into the garden unless they are ADA qualified service animals. There are also rules regarding photography and videography sessions. The garden allows participants to take photos from their own devices for personal use.

What Houston Botanic Garden events take place during the summer?

Houston Botanical Garden

The Houston Botanical Garden hosts many events throughout the year. To view the calendar of events, visit hbg.org/events.

For kids looking for fun this year, the Houston Botanical Garden is offering summer camps for anyone ages 5 to 12.

Summer Botani Camp is a plant-centered nature camp for students in grades K-5 and uses a sensory and inquiry-based curriculum to present many opportunities to go beyond simple observation, according to the Botanical Garden website. The groups are separated by children aged 5 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 years old with activities and a program adapted to their age.

Camps take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. The cost is $290 per child for each week of summer camp. Guardians have the opportunity to register their child for a week. Garden members can save $40.

Here are the camp events for each week that guardians can choose from:

  • June 17-21: Farms and fields
  • June 24-28: Potions and supplies
  • July 8-12: Flower Power
  • July 15-19: Wet N’ Wild
  • July 29-August 2: Insect Investigators
  • August 5-9: Ecosystem Adventure
