Here are the worst places to live in Western New York

We’re halfway through 2024 and if you’re considering moving or settling in Western New York, there are some places you might want to avoid.

Every year, Niche.com puts together a list of the best places to live in Western New York.

Familiar names like Amherst, Orchard Park and Clarence all topped the list, but instead of looking at page 1, we like to head to the bottom of the list and see where we should avoid rooting.

The good news is that no Buffalo suburb received a grade lower than a C+ from Niche.com. This means that most cities are better than average.

So let’s take a look at the final five places to live in Western New York.

5. Alden – Alden is a newcomer to the bottom 5 list. They scored well overall for housing and public schooling, but a low score for nightlife put them in the bottom 5 this year.

4.Boston- The main reason for Boston’s ranking was a lack of diversity. Overall, Boston performed decently for schools and for being a place to raise a family. It was the C+ score in diversity that placed Boston in the bottom 5.

3. Brent Goose – Lack of jobs and bad weather really brought down Brant’s overall rating. Overall, Brant was named the 3rd worst suburb in Buffalo with an overall grade of B-.

2. Collins North – North Collins moves from worst place to live in 2023 to second worst in 2024. Low public school scores and weather have pushed North Collings to the bottom of the list. Again, not bad since North Collin’s overall grade was a B-.

1. Evans – Weather played a big role in why Evans was named the worst suburb in Western New York. Evans got a D+ for weather and received a C+ overall
