Meadowvale Drive SWAT: Man arrested after shooting woman, sparking confrontation with four children, grandmother inside, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A suspect is in custody following a confrontation in west Houston that resulted in shots fired, according to the Houston Police Department.

The situation unfolded at a residence in the 9600 block of Meadowvale Drive shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

HPD said a woman was walking home when the suspect in question allegedly shot her with an assault-style weapon.

Officers were immediately notified and responded to the scene before SWAT arrived. According to authorities, the suspect threw his weapon away before police arrived.

Authorities learned there were four children and a grandmother inside the home at the time, but they were evacuated safely and unharmed.

At one point, authorities sent a robotic device that tracked where the suspect was and found him in a bedroom. He was arrested shortly after.

Authorities said the suspect had already been arrested, according to his case file. He faces a possible charge of aggravated assault.

HPD did not specify the connection between the suspect, the woman and the people inside the home.
