Boil water advisory lifted in the city of Atlanta – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — Nearly a week after several water main breaks in the city of Atlanta led to a boil water advisory for much of the city, the Department of Basin Management versants declares that the water is drinkable again.

The boil water advisory was issued Friday. Over the past few days, the advisory has been gradually lifted for parts of the city.

It is now lifted for the entire city.

City officials say sampling confirmed that public water can be used for all purposes and does not require boiling.

The city suffered several water main breaks, two of which were described as “major”. All these breaks have since been repaired.

The two largest breaks are on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. and James P. Brawley Dr. and W. Peachtree St. and 11th St. sent water spraying onto the roads for hours.

Thousands of Atlantans went days without water while thousands more boiled water for days.
