Buffalo man arrested on 7 charges after home search

A Buffalo man was arrested on seven charges after a search warrant was executed Wednesday morning at his residence on Shirley Avenue in the city’s LaSalle neighborhood, the Erie County Sheriff reported , John C. Garcia.

Curtis Taylor, 39, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree consumption of drug paraphernalia and single counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, assisted by the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, the Buffalo Police Intelligence Unit and the Buffalo Safe Streets Task Force FBI, executed the warrant after a brief investigation.

According to the report, officers found more than a half ounce of suspected cocaine, scales, baggies, a loaded Citadel .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a Taurus Millennium G2 9mm handgun. Two juveniles were also inside the residence, Garcia said.

Garcia noted that Taylor was convicted of first-degree assault in 2004 and was prohibited from possessing firearms. He is being held at the Erie County Detention Center.
