Bills starting cornerback can end speculation by attending mandatory minicamp

The Buffalo Bills reportedly had “great participation” in voluntary organized team activities (OTAs), but there was a notable absence.

Starting cornerback Rasul Douglas, a New Jersey native, has not been spotted in the last three OTA practices open to invited media. Sal Capaccio, Buffalo-based sports radio reporter noted Douglas’ lack of visibility in Orchard Park.

“In the three Bills OTA open media sessions that have taken place every Tuesday for the past three weeks, the only player who was missed by those of us who observed was running back corner Rasul Douglas,” Capaccio, who represents WGR 550, said in an X post.

After landing with the Bills following a midseason trade with the Green Bay Packers last fall, Douglas, 28, is entering a contract year. It’s unclear if his absence is related to his alleged desire for a possible extension.

Veterans sometimes choose to forgo voluntary OTAs and train with personal trainers. Douglas can easily end any speculation by reporting to the mandatory minicamp at the team’s facility June 11-13.

Douglas provided a boost to the Bills’ secondary, which lost starter Tre White to a torn Achilles five weeks into the 2023 campaign. He started eight of nine appearances during the streak. regular season, contributing eight passes defensed, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries to Buffalo’s run to the fourth consecutive AFC East title.

Douglas, a Top 100 pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017, is currently slotted as Buffalo’s starting CB1 opposite Christian Benford.
