Storms possible late morning in Houston with strong winds and hail

Today’s forecast:

I’m monitoring storms in Northeast Texas moving south this morning. If they hold, we will have thunderstorms around 9am in our northern cities. In Houston, storms arrive at 11 a.m. Rain moves towards the coast early in the afternoon.

Besides lightning, there is a low threat of severe weather due to damaging winds and hail. There is also great diversity in rainfall totals. Some of us don’t get a drop of rain while others might get over an inch of rain. Rain will provide some relief from the hot and humid conditions we are experiencing. We find excessive heat from Thursday to Sunday.

Weekend forecast:

A high pressure ridge forms on Thursday. This high pressure area will increase temperatures and humidity will remain high. The end of the week will be marked by the hottest temperatures of the year.

10-day forecast:

We have another storm system that could bring rain Monday and Tuesday of next week. This system will also drop temperatures to the lower 90s.
