LeClaire’s Buffalo Bill Museum of the Wild West Show

LeCLAIRE, IOWA (June 3, 2024) — On June 29 and 30, 2024, the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire welcomes Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West. This immersive living history weekend event takes place at Cody Elementary School in LeClaire. As a child, William Cody might have played or hunted squirrels on this property.

The field opens at 10:30 a.m. each day. Refreshments will be available and visitors will be able to listen to music, tour Boomtown Canvas Camp, watch historical demonstrations, play children’s games from the 1880s and meet legends of the West.

At 12:30 p.m. each day, the one hour and twenty minute live extravaganza Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West will take place in a 150ft x 300ft arena. The show is professionally scripted and choreographed – featuring Wild West legends Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, stunt riders, snipers, a Gatling gun, saddle riders, a stagecoach, horseback bandits and of the cavalry – performing scenes straight out of the original Wild West.

Rita Farro, director of the Buffalo Bill Museum, says, “I saw this band perform in Wisconsin last year and knew we should bring them to LeClaire. Pleasant Valley Schools offered to host the event and the Tourism Office decided to celebrate the 190th anniversary of the town of LeClaire. The Riverboat Twilight offers shuttles from the Mississippi River Levee parking lot to the Cody School location. (2100 territorial road). Everyone in town is coming together to make this event happen – and we’re excited to offer this level of living history experience.

  • Admission to Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West: adults $15; Seniors: $12; and children aged twelve and under: $8.
  • Advance tickets can be purchased at the Buffalo Bill Museum, 199 N. Front Street, LeClaire or on the Museum’s Facebook page. Participants can also pay at the door.
  • Hay bale seating will be limited: bring your own blankets or chairs to claim your spot and enjoy the arena extravaganza.
