What do officials think triggered this situation?

The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management said it happened when three different pipes come together and carry a large amount of water within the city to different areas. This caused water outages and low water pressure across much of downtown.

When will the water break be repaired?

There is no timetable for when things will be fixed.

Who is affected by a broken water pipe?

These outages have led to widespread water service interruptions, and many households do not have a reliable water supply.

Boil water advisory still in effect

Following the recent water main break, the city’s boil water advisory remains in effect. Residents are reminded to boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking or brushing their teeth to avoid potential contamination. The advisory, which was put in place as a precautionary measure, will remain in effect until water quality tests confirm the supply is fit for consumption.
